Dear Celtic Readers,

In the spring and summer and part of the fall, Celtic Reader is your personal, traveling bookstore at Irish festivals across the East Coast. We set up our shelves under a canopy under the bright blue sky and welcome you to shop to the strains of bagpipes and fiddles and the tappity tap of Irish step dancers. We enjoy bringing our Irish bookstore to your doorstep.

Rob and I would like to thank the organizers of these festivals. Most of them are hardworking volunteers with a sincere desire to share their Irish heritage with others, and they do so with enthusiasm and skill. The festivals would not happen without them and they often times go unsung.

If you'd like us to set up shop at your local festival, by all means send us info. We are always looking for new and interesting venues, especially lively ones with a true respect for Celtic culture (and books, of course).

May 8-9, 2010 - Tuckerton, NJ - Tuckerton Seaport Irish Festival
Enjoy Irish bands, pipers, step dancers, vendors and more. Irish mass on Sunday.

June 12, 2010 - Lakewood, NJ - NJ Irish Heritage Festival
Now in its 40th year, this event is a true tribute to Irish American pride! No longer at the PNC Arts Center as it has been for decades, it is now at the First Energy Park in Lakewood, in the Lakewood Blueclaws Baseball Stadium for the fourth year. It's always been a great event. Rob and I look forward to seeing you there.

July 17, 2010 - Gettysburg, PA - 11th Annual Adams County Irish Festival
This is one of the best festivals we've been to - not the biggest, but surely the most authentic. Real grass roots music, massive wolfhound pups roaming around, and Civil War re-enactments to boot! Set in a clearing surrounded by trees, so there's relief from the sun if it gets too hot.

July 23-25, 2010 - Glastonbury, CT - Greater Hartford Irish Music Festival

August 13-14, 2010 - Wildwood, NJ - Irish Summer Fest
A brand new event at the NJ shore this year with a tantalizing line up of entertainment. Indoors out of the heat at the Wildwood Convention Center. Don't miss it!

September 18, 2010 - Sea Girt, NJ - Irish Festival at the Jersey Shore
How about a visit to the Jersey Shore? Another hometown festival for us. Great music, including rousing pipe bands, a Gaelic mass and more. In scenic Sea Girt, NJ - along with Spring Lake, this is the Irish Riveria of NJ! See you there.

November 12-14, 2010 - Timonium, MD - Maryland Irish Festival
The Maryland Irish Festival is indoors at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. This festival features an excellent musical lineup, cultural exhibits and a great selection of food (please tell me the smoked salmon on toast is still on the menu...) Keep an eye on their web site. This event is perfectly timed to help you get a jump on your holiday shopping while having some great ol' Irish fun. It also falls on  Veteran's Day weekend so a lot of kids are off from school - do I hear road trip?
