This sterling silver necklace is finely engraved with the phrase:

Anam Cara (on one side) - this is Irish Gaelic for "Soul Friend"
and Celtic spirals on the other side

In Celtic tradition there seems to be a powerful understanding of love and friendship. In Gaelic, the word for friend is "cara." The word for soul is "anam." The anam cara is therefore one's soul friend, the person with whom one can share one's innermost thoughts and feelings. Within the church it also was someone who was your personal confessor and closest confidante.

Additionally the pendant is carved with the powerful triple spiral incription from the megalithic tombs of Newgrange in Ireland. The tombs are truly ancient, being over 5,000 year old, and predate the arrival of the Celtic people in Ireland by millenia. However, their power and beauty have become recognizable symbols of Ireland's mythic past.

Sterling silver mobius pendant on silver chain. Pendant is 7/8" in length.
Composed of .925 solid sterling silver.
Gift packaged with story card and black drawstring bag.

Crafted proudly in the USA by Laurel Elliott DVB New York.

DVB utilizes the “cire-perdue” or lost-wax casting method of jewelry creation. Lost-wax casting is actually an ancient method of jewelry production used in creating the finest jewelry. Owing to the nature of the technique and the hand finishing of each casting, small variations in dimension, weight and finish will occur.
